Katy Franco is a breast cancer survivor turned activist. She was diagnosed in 2005. After a lumpectomy, 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 35 radiation treatments, she now battles the disease in a different way, by promoting early detection and ways to provide the optimum quality of life for patients and their families.

Her 10-year campaign has included numerous appearances on television and radio, corporate events, speaking engagements, public service announcements, personal appearances at hospitals and fundraisers, and featured articles in newspapers and magazines.

She also performs her one-woman show about breast cancer, The Breast Years of My Life (Sacando Pecho), and with her husband Ken Phillips co-authored the illustrated book, Chemorella, a Cinderella story about beating cancer and seeing all your dreams come true.
